DEPARTURE POINT: LEE WHARF & HARBOUR SQUARE BOAT DOCK

NOVA Cruises utilise the commercial vessel facilities at Lee Wharf and Harbour Square Boat Dock, either side of the Maritime Centre Newcastle. The Pontoons offer a safe place for boarding and disembarking the vessels in all weather conditions. There is plenty of long term parking, and it is only a short 300m stroll from Civic Station.

The vessel facilities are located either side of the Maritime Centre located at Number 3 Honeysuckle Drive. Nearby businesses include; SUBWAY, Cold Rock Ice Creamery, Heritage Restaurant, Hog’s Breath Café, The Honeysuckle Hotel and the Crowne Plaza.

PARKING

Our closest car park “Lee Wharf Car Park” is operated by Care Park 03 9926 6662 or enquiries@carepark.com.au Web address: www.carepark.com.au and exists on Honeysuckle Drive opposite the NIB building. This car park is free on the weekends. On weekdays 4 & 8 hour time restrictions apply between 9am and 5pm and charged at $2.50 per hour to a maximum of $7. The same rates apply to Throsby Car Park at the entrance of Wharf Road.

Public parking is also available behind the restored railway workshop buildings which house the Newcastle Museum in a public car park which runs parallel with Civic Station on Wright Lane. The first 200m of the car park is restricted to 2 & 4 hour parking and beyond this zone is all day parking. The parking fee is $2.50 per hour to a maximum of $7 per day and is metered 7 days.

Private carparks exist at 11 Argyle St (Secure Parking)  and on the corner of Wharf Road, Argle St and Centenary Rd (Wilson Parking) . Both private carparks are $15 all day weekdays and offer a discounted weekend flat rate (Secure $3 online ($5 drive up) operating hours 6:30am – 7pm /  Wilson $5 operating hours 24/7).

Everyday free parking exists on Hannel St, Wickham which is approximately a 10-15 minute walk to Lee Wharf Pontoon.

A tourist bus park exists on Honeysuckle Drive near the entrance to the Lee Wharf Carpark. A bus zone and passenger drop off area is available outside the Maritime Centre which adjoins Lee Wharf Pontoon. A free Newcastle shuttle bus is available within the CBD.
