Q: How do I book a cruise with Nova Cruises?
You can book online at www.novacruises.com.au, or call our team on 02 4088 8800.
Q: Can I make a group booking?
Yes! We welcome group bookings for all cruises. Contact us directly for group pricing and availability, or to customise your cruise experience.
Q: Can I buy a gift voucher?
Yes. Gift vouchers are available and valid across any cruise option. They make a great gift for birthdays, anniversaries, or special occasions. Gift vouchers are valid for 3 years!
Q: What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, and online bookings via secure payment gateway. EFT payments may be available for group bookings.
BOARDING & DEPARTURE
Q: Where do cruises depart from?
Most cruises depart from the Lee Wharf, Newcastle (next to Honeysuckle Hotel). Whale Watching and Hunter River Cruises depart from Harbour Square (behind the Rydges Hotel). Please check your booking confirmation for exact departure location and time.
Q: What time should I arrive for my cruise?
We recommend arriving at least 15–20 minutes prior to departure to ensure a smooth check-in and boarding process.
Q: Is parking available nearby?

ONBOARD EXPERIENCE
Q: Are food and drinks provided on board?
Yes. Many of our cruises include meals such as lunch, dinner, or morning tea. Some also feature local produce tastings or seasonal menus. Check your specific cruise details.
Q: Can I bring my own food or drinks?
Outside food and drinks are not permitted unless arranged in advance for private charters or for special dietary needs.
Q: Is the vessel heated or air-conditioned?
Yes! Our vessels are equipped with heating and/or air conditioning for seasonal comfort. All vessels also offer indoor and outdoor viewing areas.
Q: Is there a bar onboard?
Yes, a licensed onboard bar with a variety of local wines, beers, soft drinks, and our exclusive Newy Distillery cocktail range.
WHALE WATCHING
Q: When is Whale Watching season?
Whale Watching runs annually from late May through to early November. Humpback whales migrate along the coast and can often be seen close to Newcastle.
Q: What happens if my Whale Watching cruise is cancelled due to weather?
You will be offered to rebook for another day or receive a credit. Safety is our priority, and we will notify you as early as possible.
Q: Are your Whale Watching cruises suitable for children?
Yes! Our cruises are family-friendly with safe viewing areas, seating, and onboard amenities.
Q: What if we don’t see any whales?
Come back again anytime within 12 months to try again for free!
ACCESSIBILITY & SPECIAL NEEDS
Q: Are your vessels wheelchair accessible?
The Princess offers limited accessibility. The vessel has a sloping gangway up to and into the entry door which is 80cm wide. Crew are able to assist lifting guests in wheelchairs onto the gangway but for every ones safety this is limited to a combined seat and guest weight of 100kg. Inside the vessel there is a single step up to restrooms but the restrooms do not have wheelchair access. This vessel conducts our lunch and dinner cruises. please call us on 02 4088 8800 to discuss individual requirements prior to booking.
Q: Do you cater for dietary requirements?
Yes. We can cater for most dietary needs including gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and more—just let us know in advance when booking.
PRIVATE CHARTERS & EVENTS
Q: Can I book a private cruise or event?
Absolutely. We host birthdays, weddings, corporate events, Christmas parties and more. Choose from 2hr canape cruises, 3hr dinner cruises, or tailor your own itinerary.
WEATHER & CANCELLATIONS
Q: What happens in bad weather?
Cruises may still operate in wet weather. In the case of strong winds or unsafe conditions, we will contact you with alternative options, rebooking or credit.
Q: How will I know if my cruise is cancelled or changed?
You will receive a text, phone call, or email from our team using the contact details provided during booking.
